When travelling to Cuba, all passengers have to have in their possession on arrival at their Cuban Airport a Cuban Visa or Tourist Card (same card but some call it a Visa, others a Tourist Card). There are different types of Cuban Visa but we are talking about the Visa that allows you 30 days in Cuba, which is applicable to our customers travelling on their holidays.
The Cuban Visas are in two parts and perforated in the middle so can be easily separated on arrival in Cuba by Cuba’s Custom Officers. The Cuban Visa/Tourist Card is completed by hand by the person(s) travelling themselves. It is always a lot quicker when checking in for your flight to have the Cuban Visa inserted inside your passport where your photograph and personal details are, as it saves time at check in and Customs.
When you fill out your Cuban Visa/Tourist Card, please be extremely careful that no mistakes are made. Some Airlines are no longer supplying your Visa (Thomson Airways & Virgin Atlantic) so you will have to apply and purchase yourself if you are travelling with these particular Airlines, Thomas Cook include the Visa. If you have ahd to purchase your Visa in advance, your Visa will be checked at the check in desk at your UK departure airport (either London Gatwick or Manchester) to make sure they have been completed correctly. This is why travellers to Cuba cannot check in online with their Airline they are travelling with. If you have made errors when completing your Cuban Visa you will be directed to your Airline Desk in the Airport to purchase a new Visa.
Cuban Visas that are included with your travel costs in a package ie with Thomas Cook or if you have a flight only with Thomas Cook Airlines, will be given to you when you actually board the aircraft so please make sure you have a pen to hand for the flight to complete your Visa. If you make any mistakes or use two different pens of different colour, you will have to purchase a new Visa on arrival at your arrival airport in Cuba. There will be a dedicated staff member to advise and help you to complete the Visa correctly if you require assistance.
Cuban Visa for tourists now costs approximately£30.00 per person to replace, This Visa is applicable to all travellers, including infants.
When you reach your destination airport in Cuba, the Customs Officer in Cuba will examine your passport and your Cuban Visa. He/She will then separate the Visa keeping one half and giving you back the other half with your passport. Please keep the remaining half with your passport, preferably in your in room safe as you will need to present it at check in for your return flight home and it will then be retained by Customs when you go through for your inbound flight.
Please ensure that you do keep your Visa safe at all times, it is a very important document. Even more so, please ensure that you complete correctly as otherwise will cost you a minimum of £30.00 to purchase a new Visa.
PLEASE NOTE Your Passport must be valid for 6 months from the date of return to the UK from your holiday when travelling to Cuba. As with all Caribbean destinations, you will arrive back in the UK the day after departure from Cuba
